Gabbeh

um dos meus favoritos e não estava ainda aqui.

porque é que as meias de Hatché me lembram tanto os tapetes de gabbeh. por isto. outro mapa aqui. e ainda outro.

"All day and all evening, until midnight, Iraz and Hatché knitted stockings till they were almost blind with weariness. The stockings they knitted became famous in the town. "The stockings of the girl who killed her fiancé and of the woman whose boy was killed." The saddest of designs went into the stockings. Hatché and Iraz did not copy any known designs, but created pattern after pattern of their own, in colours more bitter than poison. The town had never seen such striking and beautiful stockings."

o tal western canon, as tais world literatures. curioso que a literatura índia também está fora do western canon embora esteja geograficamente no seu interior (embora eu continue a ter alguns 'issues' em chamar-lhe literatura por si só. afinal qual o nível de entrelaçamento entre a ficção e a religião, qual a linha que separa a story do livro religioso -ou: em que momento a ficção se torna independente do livro religioso).
